New Friend!

Today is Trinda. After having breakfast and finishing the rest of their morning routine, Randia and Viena are inside their room, sitting on their respective beds. Each is still busy with their things to do after the morning bath. Since it is the first time Viena has ever used a personal bath, her mood is now brighter than any sky.

"Papa, are we going to the cathedral today?"

"No, we won't. There are some leaks in the walls and the roofs, as well as some railings and a bunch of other stuff that need to be fixed."

  "Oh! Do you need help?"

"Working with you makes it harder than doing it alone."

"That's so rude!" Viena smacked Randia's thigh.

"Why don't you py with Lisabelle instead?"

"Eeeh? Why? You know that she doesn't like being around me."

Randia went to search for his bag and took a small purse out of it. It was a purse that he bought with Viena in mind, and there was no better time than now to give it to her.

"I personally don't look at it that way. Even if she does, then isn't it a good opportunity for you to learn how to make up and befriend someone your age properly? Chances like this are not easy to come by."

  "But . . . I don't know if I can do that."

"What? Are you getting nervous? Where is the high-spirited little monkey that keeps nagging me to teach her everything she touched?"

"M-MONKEY?! Why are you saying the same thing as her?!"

Viena climbs into Randia's hand and bites the side of his palm. Then, Randia flicks her forehead and makes her lose her grip. Now, she's hanging upside down in Randia's arm clinging with her legs only with her gown down and showing her underwear as she covers the flicked part of her face.

"Sigh, can you be normal for once?"

"T-That hurts!" said Viena as she climbed back up to Randia's shoulder.

Randia embraced her and put a purse in her hands.

"Anyway, think of it as a challenge from me . . . This is your allowance for always helping me with my work. Now, win her over and I'll add some more to your purse."

"Whoa! Really?! You're not going to take that back, are you?! That is a promise!"

Randia gave Viena half of what he intended to give her and kept the rest with him until she made up with Lisabelle. The little girl is now over the moon. She leaps out of Randia's hands and dances on her feet. She hums to herself as she dashed outside the house to get working on her mission.

Looking at the overjoyed little girl, Randia both become rexed and worried. He doesn't dislike seeing her bright face, but he is rather concerned about how she will handle herself around such tricky stuff as twisted with curse and blessing as money.

Viena found Lisabelle sitting on the porch, twiddling her hands on her knitting. Eleanor is talking to her about where she had gone st night, but she couldn't recall correctly. All that she remembers is that she was in a brawl, but even then, she couldn't remember who they were.

"What are you two talking about?"

"Huh? Why do you care, midget?" Lisabelle responded in a cranky manner.

"Because I want to know! But Papa doesn't want to tell me about it."

"What does it have to do with your dad?"

"Don't be too hard, Lisabelle. He's the one who brought you home," Eleanor replied.

It just so happened that Randia came out of the house and was about to buy some wooden pnks. Their eyes met, and Lisabelle raised an eyebrow.

". . . Is there anything I can help you with?" said Randia.

"Hm. Is it true that you were the one who brought me home st night?"

"Yes, it's true. Your body is a little bit too heavy for your age, height, and gender. I highly suggest being more mindful when selecting your diet and physical activity."

Listening to Randia saying all those words with a straight face, Lisabelle stood up feeling embarrassed.

"H-How could you say such mean words to a dy! You two are really alike!" Lisabelle eyed both Randia and Viena.

"Hahah! Cow dy! Big fat cow dy!"

"Y-You! Do you want me to sew that noisy mouth of yours!?"

Lisabelle grumbles as Viena mocks her and spins around Randia. She wanted to have her payback, but Randia's big body got in the way and made it hard for her to catch the annoying little girl.

  "Ugh! Grandma!!"

Eleanor chuckled as she tended to the flower, deadheading and pruning the withered branches. She welcomes the noises they make with all her heart as she treasures the ticking time. She, more than anyone else, knows how fleeting such moments could be.

"You know what, Lisabelle? You have a lot to learn from your grandma. Especially about how to thank someone."

"Can't say I disagree with him, little moon," Eleanor added.

"Aaargh! Why is everyone so annoying!"

As Lisabelle scratched her head, Viena let out a loud ugh. Then, with a lot of red on her face, and even more acridity, Lisabelle clicks her tongue, and her arms are as stiff as an iron pole. She looks to the side, avoiding contact with both Randia's and Viena's blue eyes.

  "Alright, fine then! Whatever . . . T-Thanks, I guess."

"You repay act with words? That's quite a long way to go to be a 'dy'."

  "Wha-!"

"Gasp! Papa! Even I didn't know that you could be that harsh!"

Lisabelle just couldn't stop gritting her teeth. After some time to collect herself, she overcomes her feeling of humiliation and stands straight with her chest puffed out.

"Very well! I will make you a pair of mittens as a token of gratitude!"

  "Woah! Really?"

"Not you, midget! It's for your dad!"

Viena's excited face turns pout. Meanwhile, Randia who was busy tying his shoeces, let out a breath of relief.

"I appreciate your thought. However, I don't know if we're going to stay for that long."

"What?! Why?!" Viena shouted in surprise.

"Yeah, why?! I-I mean, then what should I do?!" Lisabelle also retorted.

Randia raised his hands telling her to hold back and let him finish what he started.

"I'm just saying, there's one thing that you can do right now, and it's fairly easier than making mittens."

". . . Hmph. Very well, out with it then!"

The man stood up and patted Viena's head. Then, he waggles his eyebrows at Lisabelle. She immediately understood what he meant with it.

  "D-Don't tell me?!"

"I'm gd you understand right away. Why don't you take Viena around the town for the day? I admit that I might be wrong about this being easier than making mittens though."

Lisabelle gred at Viena, crossing her arms to her chest. Viena answered by confidently puffing her chest outward with arms akimbo.

"Seriously, you want me to babysit this midget all day?"

  "Babysit?! Midget?! I'm a full-grown woman!"

"You mean a full-grown bean sprout?"

"D-Don't get ahead of yourself, you fat cow! Let's see who's gonna ugh in four or five more years! O-Or six!"

"Alright then, Lisabelle. I'll take it as a yes. Make sure to py safely and look out for each other," Randia cuts in.

"I-I'm not pying! This is just me working to pay off the debt!" said Lisabelle.

"I-I'm not pying too! I'm just doing my mission!" said Vienna.

Randia feels eted by the sight before him. He is a bit worried now that he had to entrust Viena to someone after having to watch over her non-stop for months. However, after what happened yesterday, and the festivity that is going on, he's sure Rosmayne will tighten their security like it has never been. That on its own, is a reason for him to stay low, and to let Viena explore around on her own safely.

"They are getting along so well," Eleanor approached Randia.

". . . I'm about to buy some wood and adhesive. Is there anything you need, Madam? I might do your errand as well when I'm at it."

"My, how thoughtful of you! I'm feeling like baking a pie today. I would like to have some apples, and fresh white whole wheat flour, and … oh! We're running out of spices also. Are you familiar with spices, Ran?"

  "Yes, I am."

"Then you must know what's missing in my spice box. Take it with you, will you?"

"Alright. I'll be back in half an hour at the earliest. Please take your time to rest, Madam."
