What is the Calendar of Battle? (Bonus Content!)

The Game Masters of The Iliad may have an official "Game Clock" in the heavens, but Mortals still need to record history on Battle. When writing about current events, dates are written as such:

"Game Time (G.T. *xxxx*): The (Day within month) of the (Month Number) — (Name of Month)"

  The Basics:

? Each year on Battle consists of 13 months of identical time.

? Each month is divided into 3 weeks.

? Each week consists of 15, 24-hour periods.

= 45 days for each month.

= 585 days every year on Battle.

The 13 "Holy Months" of Battle occur in the following order:

? The 1st Holy Month: "Erlinnux" (Start of Spring in 1st week of the month) — A time celebrated for both endings and beginnings.

? The 2nd Holy Month: "Cetilla" — A month rumored to "set the flow" for the coming year. Superstition dictates that the events of Cetilla are a good indication for how calm or world-shaking the year will be for Battle.

? The 3rd Holy Month: "Samson" — Represents a time of fortification for one's Clan and oneself. A time to find the "truth" of what each child of Battle fights for.

? The 4th Holy Month: "Lunum" (Start of Summer in 2nd week of the month) — Signifies a time to confront one's "fears", no matter how small or daunting, and break the chains that keep Mortals from reaching their true potential.

? The 5th Holy Month: "Nab-Halin" — Marks a time for compassion for others, to find "wisdom" in sources beyond one's own perspectives. This month is usually associated with groups coming together to bolster their Clans' armies, or radical recruitment periods before large-scale invasions.

? The 6th Holy Month: "Ever'lynn" — Recognized as a time to chase personal ambitions, selfish or otherwise. The priorities Mortals show through Ever'lynn have a tendency of reflecting what they hold as most important.

? The 7th Holy Month: "Lastian" (Start of Fall in 2nd week of the month) — Lastian is a time for "evolution", the unofficial season of war and romance. An old joke about Lastian has been translated or modified to fit every Clan's tongue. In Romani Imperium, a polite version of this joke would be: "If you're not fighting through Lastian, you're probably doing the other thing..."

? The 8th Holy Month: "Ruciar" — There is a fear on Battle that Ruciar is the month of "loss". Some "losses" are metaphorical, such as a nation or individual being bested by a rival. Most losses are more personal: dreams, loved ones, time. Mortals tend to pray the most in Ruciar.

? The 9th Holy Month: "Grishall" — Grishall was once a time reserved for personal resolutions and discipline where Mortals would vow to make better life-decisions. Ironically, Mortals boasting to one another over their resolutions led to this month becoming the most sinful of all where most fail to follow through on their goals within ten days and return to their basic urges.

? The 10th Holy Month: "Fraloch" (Start of Winter in 3rd week of the month) — Observed globally as a time to show respect for the fallen and show gratitude for the time each Mortal has been blessed enough to survive on Battle.

? The 11th Holy Month: "Yalta" — In Yalta, many report feelings of anger, rage, depression, hopelessness, ect. Widely referred to as the "angry" or "sad" month, Mortals have a habit of experiencing more erratic emotional states during this time. Sadly, Yalta is the month most commonly associated with suicide.

? The 12th Holy Month: "Baltar" — Battle itself tends to be the focus of this month, leaving many feeling more self-aware of the beauties and horrors that surround them. It is not uncommon for Mortals to pray to the world instead of the God of their Clan in Baltar. However, The Iliad finds this practice to be disrespectful because they were the ones who shaped the world for the Crown Game and its participants.

? The 13th Unholy Month: "Unambtimber" — A word that used to be synonymous with "treaty" on Battle. The month of "hope". Long ago, this month stood for peace on Battle and allowed for a period where killing members of rival Clans was forbidden. It was respected as a time to regroup, reflect, and pray. The practice of a global ceasefire being held in Unambtimber has not been observed since the slaying of Bael and imprisonment of Erlik at G.T. 9185: The Fifth Day of the Second Month—Cetilla, yet the month still remains. In modern times, Unambtimber has become just as warful as any other month.

Side Note: Battle is a Discus Plane—a "flattened planet"—to give the Game Masters of Battle the best possible view of their Mortals at all times. This geographic terrain results in all of Battle experiencing the same seasonal cycle. The amount of daylight hours one experiences shifts depending on how far they are from the planet's epicenter.
