Beware of bears!
Beware of bears!
The night was cool and refreshing, the flurry of small snowflakes had gradually stopped, but the moon still hid behind a thick layer of clouds. Scattered fires broke out in the valley below, with occasional gunfire echoing through the night sky. The previously well-lit Gray Castle was now pitch black, except for the revolving restaurant on top which still shone with a few lights. The golden foil wrapping around the Floating City reflected the surrounding flames, casting a faint pink glow. A small flying ship was docked steadily on top of the Gray Castle, and it was through this that the spies had infiltrated the castle.
"The anti-magic array is still in place, and the Grey Castle hasn't moved," Fili finished his scouting, drawing a rough sketch of the target on the ground with a branch, "The hostages should still be in the revolving restaurant at the top..."
The shape of the Grey Fortress is like a large bowl floating in mid-air, with the top layer being the widest rotating restaurant with a diameter of 150 meters. The narrower it gets as you go down, and the smallest "bowl" bottom is connected to the ground elevator tower. The total height of the entire building is about 50 meters. On the ground below is a small square surrounded by stone walls, where there are still sporadic exchanges of fire, seemingly General Gotrek's men have arrived.
Fili and the others are currently located at a small hill about 200 yards away from Gray Castle, with an altitude roughly level with the top of Gray Castle. Normally, such an important place should have a sentry post set up, but it seems that the elves' manpower is really insufficient, and they actually let the reinforcements come to this strategic location easily. However, the anti-magic array in the revolving restaurant made many of the reinforcements' methods unusable. At this distance, even the best sniper of this era would not be able to hit the hostage-taker without hitting the hostages if there was no magic-assisted aiming. And magic is even more impossible.
After introducing the current situation, Fili began his work as the Corps Commander and proposed his own crazy plan.
"Will this... work?" Charlotte's eyes widened, and she was only brought back to reality when Phil hit her on the head. "I don't think it's feasible..." He looked at the Great Druid behind him, then at the over a hundred bears that were originally going to come and eat for free, and he really couldn't decide in his heart. "Are you sure?"
"How would you know if you don't try?" Fili said with a sly wink, "Anyway, even if it doesn't work out, there's no harm done. What matters is that we tried our best, right?"
"Alright, we've tried our best." Charlotte also nodded in agreement, "Then, please go and persuade the Great Druid. This is the Commander's order!"
XX's, it's really "die for a friend but not die for poverty", Fili muttered to herself, and at the same time she was worried, how could she persuade Vini and his bear friends to be cannon fodder?
"Very well, a very wise decision." Morel stood up from the chair and put the pistol back into his waist, "Then please write an order to stop the attack for the people outside."
A man in black immediately untied Nom's bonds and handed him paper and pen. At this time, the gunfire outside seemed to be getting louder and louder.
"Oh, it seems that your suppression of our military camp wasn't very successful, huh!" General Norm chuckled and said with some sarcasm, moving his somewhat numb hands.
"No way, the kingdom's manpower in New Zealand is really limited," Mo said with a shrug, "but what does it matter now?"
It's all meaningless now, anyway. We're already your captives. Nomu reluctantly picked up the pen, thought for a moment, and began writing this humiliating order.
Mole smiled with satisfaction, admiring the distorted expression on Colonel Nohm's face. Suddenly, a rapidly approaching whistling sound shifted the attention of this seasoned spy. He and some people with keen senses turned their heads to look, but only saw the empty night sky, nothing was found.
This seems to be somewhat off, Mo Er was just about to cast a detection spell, but he remembered that he was still within the anti-magic array of the isolation magic net, and before he could think of what to do, accompanied by the sound of shattering glass, a huge, fluffy figure suddenly appeared in the great hall.
"Is that... the great druid?!" Morgh shot a bullet at the bear, gesturing to his assassins to move in and attack. "Quickly, he can't use magic here!"
Several spies swiftly pulled out daggers with blue gleaming blades, within the anti-magic array even a great druid would be no different from an ordinary bear, let alone this guy who seemed to have hit his head and was lying motionless on the ground, not even waking up after being shot.
Unfortunately, they didn't even have time to make a move before the next bear came crashing down from the sky and pinned them all under its butt. Next came the third, fourth... One after another, the bears were made invisible by magic and thrown into the revolving restaurant like machine gun bullets by the Great Druid from the small hill. Some of the bears unfortunately fainted, but more of them remained conscious after landing. And the spies' bullets made them understand who the enemy was in no time.
These starving bears came in and wreaked havoc everywhere. Since the spies couldn't see the bears' trajectory in mid-air, they were forced to engage in close combat at zero distance. It was clear that they found it difficult to cope with the numerous and incredibly powerful dog bears. From time to time, some unfortunate assassins were slapped out of the air by the bears' paws. Of course, there were also even more unfortunate bears killed by daggers and bullets. The hall instantly fell into chaos. One bear smashed a large hole in the floor during the fight, causing the precise anti-magic array to lose its effect instantly!
A burst of insight flashed, and the politicians launched the transmission rings, transmission necklaces, transmission amulets and other items on their bodies, disappearing from the chaotic hall at a speed that left the spies unable to react. Next, a yellow-green smoke emerged from the neck of each bear, which was like the smell of tens of thousands of skunks defecating at the same time, while the bears were knocked down, most of the spies and all the hostages who did not escape were also affected, completely losing their ability to act.
If there's anything worse than being sat on by the chairman of the board, it's being sat on by a whole bunch of big shots.
Everything was going unexpectedly smoothly, with Charlotte in the dark, Fili successfully persuaded the Great Druid to let his friends join this daredevil squad by luring them into forming a bear-based elite guard. Then Fili hung metal ball-shaped stink bombs on each of the bears and made them invisible, while the Great Druid used his incredible physical strength that could toss dragons around like toys to throw these daredevils from the hilltop into the top floor of Grayfort. If it were humans being thrown up there, they would either die or break a bunch of bones; only thick-skinned bears might survive such a throw.
According to Fei Li's plan, the only task of these dare-to-die team members after going up was to sabotage. Once the precise anti-magic array was made ineffective by the bear paws of the dare-to-die team members, the stink bomb would automatically launch after coming into contact with the magic net, and the big bear, spy, and hostages would all be knocked out together. The reinforcements could then easily go up to pick the fruit.
But he never thought there would be so many people descending from the sky on top of his head!
"Governor, can you get off my head!"
"No way, my legs seem a bit off, who can give me a pull?"
"My hand feels like it's broken! Reverend, I need a reverend!"
"You dirty old man, how dare you touch me! Be careful or I'll have you fired!"
"I really didn't mean to!"
……
About thirty prominent figures in New Thoria, infamous for their lack of decorum, started playing a game of Twister on a small hill. Several of them unprofessionally sprained their hands and feet. These people were all customers and victims of Phil Teller's "Absolutely Safe Teleportation Jewelry" - just like the fake teeth of Chairman Ludwig, the teleportation spell stored in these jewels had its coordinates set to the top of Phil's head. In the selfish alchemist's mind: "If I'm safe when teleporting, that's best; if I'm in danger, having a few more meatshields is always good; and if I'm already dead, where the customers are teleported has nothing to do with me."
He clearly hadn't thought that if so many customers launched the transmission technique together, he would become dangerous even in a safe place. Now, due to his lack of consideration, he was instantly crushed under the buttocks of a pile of big shots and naturally fainted.
However, this at least temporarily allowed him to avoid facing the wrath of the big shots who were harmed by his counterfeit goods. Unfortunately, with Renny's excellent healing magic, Fili quickly came to and opened his eyes to see General Nohm's dark green face.
"Taylor, Chief of Staff, I think you owe us an explanation!"
Fili fainted again.
