Chapter Eighty-two: The Death Squad
Big Mac
This was a dimly lit hut, with seven people sitting inside, accompanied by seven stoves and seven bonfires, surrounded by the fragrance of medicine, giving every person who came in a sense of serenity and tranquility. Of course, this was without considering the group of demonic beasts outside.
This was the second day Chen Le had agreed to follow Egwene's orders, and in the past day, Chen Le had already led seven little bird apprentices to refine a lot of wound medicine.
Just as Chen Le was about to start the next round of alchemy, a knock at the door sounded from outside.
"Knock knock knock."
Chen Le didn't raise his head, staring at the burning stove fire and said: "Please come in, if it's what you want, go to the cabinet on your left hand side to get the medicine."
"Master Arthur, thank you for your hard work. I'd like to ask some questions, may I?" - Egwene
Chen Le raised his head and looked at Aiguo Wen, with a puzzled expression in both eyes.
Egbert sat down on the ground and said loudly, "Everyone, take a break first, don't exhaust yourselves. I've brought food and sleeping bags for you."
Chen Le took a look at the entrance, where more than ten roasted demonic beasts and several bottles of wine were neatly arranged, accompanied by several cotton sleeping bags. The little friends were extremely excited, immediately dropping their alchemy furnaces to rush to the food, which Chen Le understood, as from yesterday to now, Chen Le and these little friends had not rested at all, and Chen Le did not know how long those little guys had been refining medicine before he arrived.
Chen Le looked at the children who were eating voraciously, then smiled and said to Aegwynn: "This group of little guys is still pretty good, three of them have already become junior alchemists."
Egbert looked at the group of little rascals who were play-fighting with each other, then turned to Chen Le and said: "Master Arthur, we will definitely protect them."
Chen Le poured a glass of wine for Aigewan and one for himself. Chen Le raised his glass to gesture to Aigewan, who reluctantly picked up his glass and downed it with Chen Le. Chen Le looked at Aigewan's terrible expression and said, "Speak, what do you want to ask?"
Aegwyn coughed weakly and said: "Master Arthur, I really can't drink. Can you please not make me drink anymore in the future?"
Chen Le Xian was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing: "Haha! Fine, fine! I won't let you drink anymore."
Egbert cleared his throat and said, "Master Arthur, the situation is this. This morning, we sent out a team of thieves to scout out the monster lair, and at the cost of one hundred men, we received news that each of these monsters has its own commander! We plan to send out an elite squad to eliminate them, so we hope to have special medicine, Master Arthur! You are the highest-level alchemist here, so I hope you can brew some battle-enhancing potions!"
Chen Le fell silent for a moment before asking, "What did those magical beasts look like? The ones you called the Magical Beast Commanders?"
Aegwynn bowed her head and muttered an incantation, then some elements formed a circular creature, that creature only had one eye.
Chen Le's eyes narrowed into a slit, as if he felt like he had seen it somewhere before.
"Zha zha ben, come out quickly and help me see what this is!" Chen Le muttered to himself.
"Evil eyes have intelligence equivalent to that of humans and are skilled at learning. Adult evil eyes generally possess sixth-level strength."
Chen Le said in a low voice after listening to Jia Jia Ben's explanation: "Evil Eye. This guy is called Evil Eye!"
Aegwynn stood up, looking at Chen Le with a shocked face, and excitedly pulled Chen Le's clothes, saying: "Master Arthur! Do you know any other characteristics of this demon?"
"Hey Egbert, how about putting me down first?" Chen Leyu said gloomily.
Aegwynn also found his actions to be somewhat improper, and he hastily let go of Chen Le's clothes, then awkwardly said: "Sorry, Master Arthur, I got excited."
Chen Le Ping replied, "This demon beast possesses high intelligence. Its intellect is on par with ours. However, its individual strength is not strong, only sixth level! If we were to consider assassination, I believe there's still a good chance of success, but whether we can return or not, I dare not guarantee."
Aegwynn's expression was somewhat painful, and Chen Le didn't say much. He gently patted Aegwynn's shoulder and said: "Aegwynn, think carefully about it, that's all I can do."
Aiguo let out a long sigh and said, "Master Arthur, would you mind refining some medicine like the Giant Power Pill or the Wind Movement Pill? I need to discuss something with those young men."
Chen Le nodded and then sent the old man with a sad face out.
After Aegwynn left, Chen Le couldn't help but leave tears behind. After all, these were the bitter fruits of his own planting, but they had been picked up by others.
"I'll repay them when I have the chance." Chen Le stared blankly at his five fingers. "Start a fire, refine medicine! This time, I must bring out some real skills!"
The flames were burning fiercely, as if they were the fighting spirit in Chen Le's heart. Chen Le shouted loudly, pouring one medicine after another into the pot. The group of little friends also stopped resting, looking at Chen Le with shocked faces, who was almost driven mad.
----------------------------
It was also unknown how long it had been when Chen Le heard Aegwynn's voice after refining the fiftieth batch of dan medicine.
"Master Arthur, would you care to come with me? Those young men wish to meet you." Egwene's voice seemed to have aged considerably.
Chen Le stopped the furnace fire and put the fifty pieces of Dan medicine in a box.
Aike saw Chen Le coming over and didn't say a word, turning his head and leaving.
Chen Le followed closely behind. When they walked out of the alchemy hut, Chen Le found that it was already dark outside, but there wasn't a single ray of moonlight, and the sky was densely covered with dark clouds. On the city wall, countless torches were burning, and one could vaguely see the shadows of soldiers patrolling back and forth on top.
But in front of Chen Le's eyes was a large group of people leaning against the ruins and sleeping. Every person here had more or less dust on their bodies.
Aegwynn said as she walked away: "Master Arthas, tell me, does this world really have a god?"
Chen Le thought for a moment and said, "Isn't God-level supposed to be God?"
"Aiguo said in an unquestionable tone: 'Godly! Can only be considered a group of people who possess great power! What I'm talking about is the kind of god that can control everything!'"
"I believe!"
"Aiguo sighed and said: 'I hope there is a god to manage the soul, I don't want these poor boys to not be able to live happily even after death.'"
Chen Le did not respond, and the two of them continued walking towards the inner city.
Walking up to a magnificent building, Egwene pointed at it and said, "It's here."
Chen Le looked at this magnificent building and couldn't help but furrow his brow.
"Egbert pushed open the door and said: 'Come in, Master Arthur!'"
Chen Le followed him in.
The environment inside was terrible, a group of people were boxing and drinking, while others were heavily drunk.
"Aiguo Wen clapped his hands loudly and shouted: "Young men, come over! Master Arthur has arrived!"
In less than ten seconds, whether drunk or sober, and regardless of what they were doing, all twenty-five of them stood neatly in front of Chen Le.
Chen Le looked at them and then took out a box from his bosom, saying: "This is two portions for each of you. I hope to see you all again tomorrow, goodbye, I'm leaving!"
Having said that, Chen Le left here.
Not long after, Egwene burst out. Egwene shouted at Chen Le: "Arthur! Why are you so fierce!"
Chen Le yelled at Aiguo: "Can someone like this also be a candidate for that role? I really doubt your vision!"
Aiguo directly punched Chen Le's chest and Chen Le, who had been without rest for a long time, was caught off guard and knocked to the ground.
"Agravain bellowed: 'This is what I asked them to do! You don't know the possibility of survival for this mission! I just wanted them to be able to spend their last night happily! And then walk out with a smile tomorrow! Look at what you've done, and with that attitude too!'"
Chen Le was scolded. Aiguo pointed at Chen Le and said: "If you still have a conscience, then go in and apologize! Then accompany those young men well."
Chen Le did not speak, he stood up and went back into the building again.
That evening, the whole building was filled with noisy sounds, and there were even some women's.
Egbert stood on the city wall, the cold wind blowing his whiskers, he bowed his head and muttered: "I hope they can leave some seeds behind. Children, that's all I can do!"
