Chapter 32. Leonel’s Choice
Leonel stared at Beligor, searching his empty gaze, his silent yet enigmatic figure. The wind ruffled his hair, but Beligor remained motionless, like a statue.
Leonel said nothing. The choice before him was too heavy. If Beligor was on their side, they might be able to save him and perhaps restore his identity. But if he was still playing by the Dark Lords’ rules, their trust could cost them their lives.

He recalled the moment he received the note. Beligor had handed it over as if it was the only thing he could do of his own free will. Was there still a remnant of his former self inside him?
— Will you help us seal the rift? — Leonel finally asked.
Beligor looked at him again. For the first time, a flicker of… doubt? Or realization?
— I… don’t know, — he answered, his voice barely above a whisper.
The wind almost carried his words away, but Leonel heard them.
And he understood: Beligor was still searching for himself.
