886. Level 400 – The Glimmers of a Star

  Indeed.

The crux of the issue was that Demons tended to individually possess unique physiologies. Demons born from the same mother would only retain three things from their parents: their eyes, characteristics (horns, wings, etc), and power.

Everything else was left to fate to decide, including the placement of their internal organs, what sort of organs they would possess, as well as the material their bodies were composed of.

Their sheer diversity meant that they had an equal number of ways to harvest nutrients from humans. Sexual energy absorption, feasting on false bargains, reaping souls, uttering false promises and prophecies, and so on.

Next on the list were the Skills of Sanguine Genesis.

  (S) Bloody Exchange [0/10]

< An eye for an eye. A soul for a soul >

< EFFECT: You may heal a target by acquiring their injury or illness. If the illness is healed or if 24 hours have passed, then you may store the condition and use it at another time. Conditions may be transferred to either the same target or a new target at any time before it is stored. Must be in direct contact with the target >

< CONDITION TYPE: Lesser injuries | Tier 1 Diseases >

  < COST: 5,000 HP >

  (S) Blood Lettering [0/10]

< When impurities seep into the blood, and when Angels become crestfallen, then we shall revert to a sacrificial method to relinquish them of the greatest illness of all >

< EFFECT: Commit the agonizing process of bloodletting to scribe the Sins of a target. Their deeds shall be written down in blood. Truths may be revealed through their blood. Blood does not lie >

< COST: 5% of total HP (Target) >

They would fit perfectly within Harmacist but it fell under the Sanguine Gensis Profession. In a way, Sanguine Genesis was like an umbrella Profession. [Bloody Exchange] was a unique method of healing, and not really one Frost found a use for other than in offensive applications.

Meaning she saw it as a useful weapon to apply injuries on demand. The problem with this however was that an injury or disease could only be used once. Afterwards, she’d have to restock on that injury.

But this was where a certain Passive Skill came in.

  (S) PASSIVE: Manual of Anti-healing

< Turn to page 333 for how to deal with the vengeful girl in red >

< EFFECT: Permanently store injuries, illnesses and weaknesses. They are forever kept once stored. Painkiller and pain-nullifying Skills/Abilities are disabled when experiencing pain intended to be stored >

< COST: 10% of total HP and 80% of total blood volume to permanently store an injury >

Any injury Frost took could be stored into what she imagined to be a compendium or a diary even. It was like carrying a miniature book that she could always record injuries into with her blood.

There was a silver lining to becoming a human pincushion now.

But a part of her didn’t want to delve too deeply into it, mostly because she knew how much it would hurt Jury.

Besides, it’s for minor injuries right now, so there’s no point in lobbing an arm off and trying to save it.

Finally, she reached her last Profession: Knowledge Well. It was a Profession that incentivized her to study her opponents first before dealing with them. Why?

  (E) Analyze Target [0/10]

< EFFECT: Gain 10% more stats from targets analyzed. You will learn of their Skills, characteristics and biology >

  < COST: Nil >

  (E) PASSIVE: Observation I

< EFFECT: Only basic information can be gained through observation >

This Skill was not only beneficial to Frost, but to the Eternal Library itself. Any information Frost learned was automatically archived. Considering there were a lot of gaps of knowledge in Elysia, she now had the potential to fill the missing pages in the books of the Eternal Library.

Furthermore, the only reason this Profession even existed was because of the Librarians that assisted the Archivist. Knowledge was scattered, ruined and split across the Library, but the Librarians had the uncanny ability to sift through them with accuracy so long as they knew what they were looking for.

Then, it was up to Anna to compile and archive this information into a single book.

What was strange was how Nav was aware of their findings even though no one informed her, but that was likely because of the way she was linked to the Nexus. Frost double checked through her stats in case she had forgotten something.

Thankfully, that was not the case.

Distant shockwaves rattled the world. Cer appeared by her side. Seconds later, those shockwaves washed over the two of them as well as the cracking sound of Cer’s movements.

The world stood silent, as though struggling to comprehend what had happened, for a total of 6 seconds.

“Whew. Heh. Enjoying the show?” Cer smirked with folded arms.

“I was. Were you trying to see how fast you can go?”

“Nah, I’m trying to learn how to navigate at max speed. I always wondered why Snap couldn’t make sharp turns until I blacked out for a split second. I could’ve sworn I had cramp in my neck too.”

“Cer. Are you aware that you could have snapped your own neck?”

“Huh. Now that you mention it… that makes a lot more sense.”

Frost couldn’t imagine what sort of g-forces Cer faced at that speed. 9 was seen as the limit of what jet pilots could withstand. But they always turned at an angle.

Cer moved at 90-degree angles, sometimes even tighter if needed.

It was 100+ g’s, and that was the lowest estimate.

Not all of it was withstood by her strength alone. Cer had a Profession called Warped Acceleration, which gave her Warp-like Skills. Thanks to her diligent experimentation, she had gained another 10 levels.

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

This was the wolf who could. Cer was as happy as Frost to see her. She always wore a bright, toothy grin that didn’t have the faintest worry in the world whenever Frost was around.

“So, what brings you guys out here? Did you all just want to watch me?”

“Something like that. I wanted to say hi to everyone before my meeting with Enoch.”

“Couldn’t you have just talked to us through Nav?”

“No way. It’s better to see you all in person. We don’t live that far away. And besides, it’s been a week since we last saw each other, right?”

Frost patted her head lovingly, adoring how Cer nuzzled against her hand, growling blissfully to her touch. The wolfwoman was in nothing but pants and a half-buttoned shirt. Her sloppy apparel did not detract from her appearance.

“You’re not wrong. Haah. There’s no other way to get Vitamin F, right? Heh. I guess we’re leaving now, hey? Oi Snap! Got room for one more!?”

  “Bzzzt~! (of course!).”
