“It all started when you were four years, three months, eight days old, that was when your father left you. Your mother had to pick up work to make ends meet. Because of this you grew up without anyone to teach you discipline or self respect.” I spoke normally.
“H-ow do you know that?” Greta asked, slightly scared.
“Because I see everything.” I responded with a wide eyed glare.
“Your depressing life continued with your first dive into illegal activities when you were 11 years old. On May 26th, at 2:43 PM you stole a pair of purple ‘speed’ brand running shoes from ‘shoe world’. After which you continued to steal exactly 42 times, with an exact amount of 237 items, worth an approximate value of $9,650.” I spoke in a calm manner. However no sympathy could be found in my eyes.
“How? How do you know this?” She said nervously. She looked around her and finding no support started to hide her head.
“Because I see everything.” I replied with the same answer.
“Let's continue, After committing several types of crimes for several years she finally met Johnny Jewel. Johnny had her do specific jobs 13 times, excluding this case. He paid her exactly $6,800.” I continued without any mercy.
“NO… NO…” She yelled with tears in her eyes.
“Finally, 12 days ago she was contacted by Johnny at exactly 4:52 PM. I quote, ‘Greta, I have another job for you.’ To which you replied, ‘What is it?’ to which Johnny replied, ‘Accuse a person named Azure Barrett of rape, he is in room 1-c in our highscool.’ Along with a picture of me. You asked, ‘How much?’ And Johnny replied, ‘$1,000’ to which you said ‘Got it’.”
Greta dropped to her knees, she was sobbing and the noises filled the room. However I was not done.
“You were paid, eight days ago at exactly 12:01 pm, at account number xx-xxx-xxxx. Do you wish to hand over your phone now?” I said threateningly.
Greta was still sobbing.
I stood up and walked around the bench towards Greta.
Beneath the sound of her sobs I could hear her mutter, “No… No…” Over and over again.
She looked up as I approached her, “How? How do you know this?”
I then leaned in and whispered, “I have known everything since the beginning, you were nothing more than a tool for Johnny.” She then stopped sobbing and only looked up at my face. Her expression was blank, but you could tell from her eyes that she was in pain.
“Phone.” I said in a commanding voice. She slowly reached into her pocket and placed her phone in my hand.
I unlocked her phone easily, luckily a memory of her sin showed me the password. I then pulled up all the proof of what I had said and showed it to the judge.
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
During my entire parade, everybody in the room was shocked to say the least. Nobody moved a muscle or made even a mouse of noise.
The judge recovered quickly and looked through the phone.
“H-how did you do that? It is all correct, down to the minute.” He asked me slightly in fear.
“I know what sin is, and I know what it looks like.” I responded.
“But didn’t you say you just met her today?” He asked.
“That is no longer important. And this is a warning, you shouldn’t dig any deeper.” I spoke harshly.
I turned back to Greta, “Would you like to drop your accusation, and this case?”
She slowly looked up to me, we made eye contact, and she nodded.
“Judge.” I spoke in a commanding tone.
“The accuser has redrawn her accusation. This case is now considered null.” The judge said before slamming his gavel.
I took a quick look at the jury, which sounded empty, their faces were a mix of fear and regret.
A couple even flinched when I looked at them.
I slowly walked out of the court, nobody else moving a muscle.
I strolled out the doors a free man, leaving behind over a dozen still statues.
I was avoided in the streets, likely because of my stench and rugged appearance. I walked slowly towards the police station. Drawing many eyes on my way.
I opened the doors, and got even more glares inside. I walked to the front desk, sitting there was a lady with a sour expression.
“Would you like to report a crime… or turn yourself in?” She spoke rudely.
“No, my stuff was confiscated when I was arrested and now I want it back.” I said.
“That would all be part of the procedure in release.” She replied rudely.
“Let’s just say that two of your officers did a pretty horrible job.” I replied, starting to get offended.
“Name?” she asked even more rudely than before.
“Azure Barrett.” I said now with a look of disgust on my face.
The lady flinched when she heard my name. I could hear the sound of typing on her keyboard.
Suddenly two big men came in from the doors behind her. They charged at me and placed me in handcuffs.
“Why would you go back to the police department, when you are a criminal rapist.” The lady said disgustedly.
“Search my name up.” I told her.
“I already did, your court trial is today, but the results are not in yet.” She said coldly.
“Take him back to his cell… and no need to be polite.” She added on.
I was being forcibly pulled away when, “Wait.” came from the outside.
It was the tall officer, his forehead filled with sweat.
The pulling stopped.
“He is innocent, I just got the results from the court. Let him go.” He said while panting.
I was released and uncuffed.
“Help me get my stuff.” I told him
“Sure.” He said happily.
This left me waiting with his fat partner.
“I heard the case was dropped.” The fat man tried to make small talk.
“What does it mean to you?” I asked coldly.
“Just because you are innocent of this does not make you innocent of other crimes. We might have stopped the investigation of that night, but we are still keeping an eye on you.” He said seriously.
“What a liar, if you were really keeping an eye on me, then how come you didn’t find out I was arrested till nearly a week after?” I asked, feeling a little humorous.
“That-that was, a little error.” He replied, nervously.
Soon after the tall officer came back with my stuff and I left to feel the warm sun outside.
