Chapter Twenty
A horse carriage slowly left the back gate of Lin's mansion, driven by a young servant of fourteen or fifteen years old.
The little servant driving the carriage was called Yan Tai, who was none other than Lin Ruhai's personal servant, the newly appointed Flower-Crowned Scholar. Needless to say, since the one driving the carriage was Yan Tai, then the person sitting in the carriage must be none other than Lin Ruhai himself.
It's just that the proud winner of the Imperial Examination, the young master of Lin Manor, actually had to quietly leave the manor from a secluded side door.
The horse carriage went all the way without stopping and directly exited the city; it wasn't until they arrived at a mountain foot near the outskirts of the capital, where birds sang and flowers bloomed in a pleasant atmosphere, that they finally came to a stop.
"Master, we've arrived!" The carriage came to a stop and the coachman jumped down from the carriage. He then lifted up the curtain and said respectfully: "This is Baoxian Mountain in Nangu."
A man in a moon-white long gown walked out of the carriage, elegant as if he had stepped out of a painting; his features were handsome and refined, his eyes were bright and clear with spirit; it was none other than Lin Ruhai.
"Is this the famous Baoxian Mountain in Beijing?" Lin Ruhai's face showed a hint of confusion and puzzlement.
Lin Ruhai turned his head to look at the small hill not far behind him, and he really couldn't see it; this mountain peak in front of him, which looked like just a small hill, how could it have such a high-end and elegant name?
"It's precisely Mount Baoxian!"
Yan Tai had been following Lin Ruhai for almost ten years, and it was not difficult to guess the thoughts of his own master; he naturally understood what Lin Ruhai meant by his words.
"The young master, that Taoist temple over there is the Xuanxin Zhengzong of the Huguo Daoquan; that's why this place is called Baixian Mountain by the locals."
"So that's how it was." Lin Ruhai nodded with a look of sudden realization.
"Right, didn't you say that today you were going to pick up the young lady and return to the manor? How come this time you actually let me hurry with the horse carriage to Bao Xian Mountain?" Yan Tai finally asked out the doubts in his heart.
"Qing Wei True Man said that by noon, Lan Er will appear on Bao Xian Mountain." Lin Ruhai explained the reason why he would be appearing on Bao Xian Mountain.
Yan Tai was able to stand out from the many small servants and become Lin Ruhai's trusted confidant, this person is not only extremely clever but also very loyal, cough... of course, this loyalty is limited to Lin Ruhai alone.
"Sir, it's still early before noon; why not find a quiet place to rest for a while? What do you think, sir?" Yan Tai asked Lin Ruhai with a bow.
Lin Ruhai raised his head and looked at the sky, hmm... it's still early from noon at this time.
Lin Ruhai nodded and smiled, scolding the inkstone with a sentence: "Well, you're clever, go take a look at where to rest your feet; come back and tell me."
"Xiao de zhi dao!" Yan Tai responded hastily and quickly walked away, the sun was getting fiercer; what if he ended up scorching his own young master?
Lin Ruhai thought that before long, he would soon be able to see his long-separated sister; the smile on his handsome face couldn't be hidden.
Among the green hills and clear waters, a man with a rich, handsome and elegant appearance like an immortal stood by, dazzling many people's eyes for a while.
Originally, this so-called Baixian Mountain was the only way from Beijing to Xuanshen Orthodox Taoist Temple; because there is a Xuanshen Orthodox Taoist Temple here; although it can't be said that tourists are like weaving, it can't be said that it's deserted either; every day, horse-drawn carriages and tourists traveling between Beijing and Xuanshen Orthodox Taoist Temple are not a small number.
So this picture that is pleasing to the eye and heart fell into the eyes of someone who had a mind for it; everyone has a love for beauty, and good-looking people are liked by both men and women.
Today was also a coincidence, the old lady of the Jia family happened to bring her own daughter Jia Min to worship at the Xuanxin Orthodox Taoist Temple; Mrs. Jia sat in the first carriage with her maidservant, while Jia Min sat in the second carriage with her personal maidservant.
It just so happened that this scene fell right into the eyes of Jia Min's personal maid, Feicui.
Yuanyang was a born servant of the Jia family, her mother and elder brother and sister-in-law were all servants of the Jia family; because Old Lady Jia had seen Yuanyang when she was young and thought she looked similar to their own daughters, and also because Yuanyang's appearance was not bad and she was eloquent; most importantly... Yuanyang's family had been servants of the Jia family since her grandfather's generation, so her loyalty was naturally unquestionable.
So Yu Dai followed another young maid named Ma Nao, who was also born in the Jia family, to become a personal maid of Jia Min.
As Jia Min's personal maid, Feicui naturally had the good fortune to see her future husband's appearance when he was riding a horse and touring the streets.
"Miss, look at that person, doesn't he seem like our family's brother-in-law?" A small exclamation escaped from Pei Cui's mouth, immediately startling awake the originally dozing Jiā Mǐn.
Emerald originally just wanted to take a look at the scenery outside the carriage window, but unexpectedly caught sight of that handsome man standing between the green hills and blue waters - Lin Ruhai!
Jia Min was still a bit annoyed at first, but after hearing Fei Cui's words behind her back; that little bit of annoyance had long since flown to the ends of the earth.
"Where is she? Emerald, are you sure you didn't mistake the person?" Zha Min hastily asked a sentence, possibly thinking that she had also been too unreserved as a daughter; and then hurriedly added another question.
Luckily, there were only Jia Min and Fei Cui on the carriage at this moment. If there were other people on the carriage, who knows how many troubles would be stirred up by Jia Min's words and anxious appearance just now?
Emerald has been following Jia Min since childhood, serving as a personal maid. As the young lady of the house, her temperament is quite high; and as a close personal maid, Emerald understands more than many people do.
"Miss, look!"
Jade smiled slightly and raised the curtain on the window slightly with her hand, then pointed outside the carriage.
Jia Min followed the direction of Fei Cui's pointing finger and looked over, where a handsome young man with a clear and elegant face stood out among the green hills and blue waters; if it wasn't the Flower Marquis who had been betrothed to her, then who else could it be.
For a moment, looking at Lin Ruhai standing among the green mountains and waters, Jia Min seemed to be infatuated; so much so that even when the carriage had gone far away, she still stared at the figure in the distance with nostalgia, speechless.
"Miss, are you okay?" Jade carefully pulled down the curtains on the window and asked softly.
As Jia Min's personal maid, Fei Cui naturally knew that her family's daughter had always been secretly in love with the young master of their own family; however, looking at her family's daughter today, it seems that her family's daughter's feelings towards the young master are far more than what she herself knows.
At this moment, Lin Ruhai standing beside him did not know that he had just encountered such a coincidence in this short while; it was so coincidental that he happened to bump into someone from the Jia family, and it was actually his so-called future wife.
Damn it!
What the...?! This is really ridiculous!
