Paper Plate1969. signed recto; stamped verso / paper a bit toned; else fine. 10 1/8 inches in diameter; screenprint on paper.
This paper plate is one of several multiples Lichtenstein produced for "On 1st," a pop art store founded by Burt Stern in the late 60s. Thousands of these plates were printed and they were sold in packs of ten. Signed copies are very rare. Lichtenstein signed only a few copies, primarily for his dealers who requested them on behalf of collectors. (Corlett III.45).
