Who Remembers Where They Are From?Toronto: Art Metropole, 2012. Set of 4 posters. Each 22 x 14 inches; rolled ink and silkscreen on paper.
Number 1 of 55, from edition of 55 sets, each set signed and numbered in pencil on the first print of each set. The format of these posters references familiar street advertising posters frequently seen on telephone poles in Los Angeles announcing rock shows, rodeos, car races, boxing matches and the like. This poster format has become a recognizable component of many of Allen Ruppersberg’s works. This work makes oblique reference to the closing of the Colby Screenprint Company, which had for years printed most of LA's advertising posters, including Ruppersberg's. Colby had been among few such printers still in operation anywhere in the United States.
