WhiteNew York: Allied Cultural Prosthetics, 2001. Very good. 8vo.; photocopy zine with 13 color photographs and other collage elements tipped in with clear archival tape; sewn binding; color photocopy wrappers. Very good. First Edition.
This is one of a very few copies produced of elaborate handmade zine which Sachs created in conjunction with his exhibition (also entitled "White") at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in January, 2001. Sachs has long been fixated on the sanitized technological modernism of the space age, whether that aesthetic is promoted by NASA, or emanates from iconic sci-fi films by Kubrick, Lucas, et al. In this zine Sachs both celebrates this aesthetic, and undermines it, suggesting something sinister within all this hyper-clean whiteness.
