42 - Hunting Lesson Dodging the Wild Boar

Having gained experience from shooting at the boar, the four women understood that hitting a moving target was difficult.

So, they kept testing the boar at the edge of the road.

The boar seemed quite intelligent, realizing that the women were always hovering near the road, retreating whenever it got close.

So, the boar turned and moved away from the road, ignoring the women.

Even when Chloe and the others shot at it, it didn't turn back.

"This boar is trying to lure us away from the road." Kira exclaimed.

She didn't expect an animal to be so clever.

  Jason nodded, reminding them:

"Monsters guarding treasure chests have some intelligence. Some are even cunning and treacherous."

"Goblins, for example, will even set ambushes and traps."

"Also, goblins will beg for mercy before they die, trying to gain sympathy. Don't hesitate if you encounter them."

Jason shared his experiences from his past life. These were lessons learned from countless bloody mistakes.

Jenna reminded them, "The boar's getting away. Should we go after it..."

  "Of course," Chloe said eagerly.

She was actually the most confident about facing the boar.

Chloe's Spirit was E+ Rank, and her Speed was D- Rank. As long as she was careful, the boar wouldn't be able to hit her.

And if she was in danger, Chloe could always use her Mental Impact skill.

The other three women agreed to hunt the boar in the Wasteland.

Just shooting at it with crossbows from the side of the road wouldn't be much of a workout.

So, the four women loaded their crossbows, left the road, and headed towards the boar.

Kira reminded them, "Let's spread out. That way, the boar will only chase one of us, and the others can shoot safely."

The women nodded and spread out across the Wasteland, gradually surrounding the boar.

Jason needed to protect the four women, so he exchanged three D-Rank Attribute Orbs, upgrading his E+ Rank Strength to D Rank.

  Now, Jason's personal stats were:

  Name: Jason Williams

  Strength: D Rank

  Speed: E+ Rank (D-)

  Constitution: D- Rank

  Spirit: E+ Rank

  Skills: None

  Escape Coins: 12562

  Overall Rating: D Rank

Seeing his Strength had reached D Rank, Jason was confident he could kill the boar with his bare hands.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

So, he picked up the Wooden Spear and followed behind the women, protecting them.

If the boar posed a threat to any of the women, Jason would intervene.

At this moment, the boar saw Jason and the women leave the road, and a glint of excitement flashed in its small, human-like eyes.

It wanted to gore all these humans to death.

  Thwip!

  Suddenly, a black shadow flashed.

A crossbow bolt hit the boar directly.

Half of the bolt pierced into the boar's body.

Ellie's eyes lit up with surprise. She had fired that shot.

"Oink!" The boar roared angrily and charged towards the women.

The boar's speed was extremely fast, and the women were inexperienced, panicking as they tried to fire.

As a result, none of the bolts hit the boar.

The boar targeted Chloe, charging straight at her.

"Ah!" Chloe screamed and turned to run, trying to get back to the road.

Seeing this, Jason sighed and stepped in front of the boar.

"Watch closely. Your speed is no slower than the boar's. Don't just think about running away. Learn to dodge..."

Jason showed the women how to dodge danger by example.

Just as the boar was about to hit Jason, he quickly stepped two steps to the left, letting the boar pass him.

  Effortless and graceful.

The women's eyes lit up, understanding the difference between dodging and running away.

Chloe was the first to react. After the boar missed Jason, it charged at her.

Chloe focused, and she realized the boar's charge was simple, a straight line.

All she had to do was step to the side when it was about to hit her.

So, as the boar was about to hit her, she imitated Jason's movements and quickly dodged to the side.

Boar and human passed each other.

"I dodged it!" Chloe's eyes sparkled with excitement. She shouted to her sisters, "I dodged it. This big dumb boar isn't so tough after all."

The boar seemed to understand Chloe's words.

Its small eyes showed anger, and it turned to charge at Chloe again.

Chloe had learned how to dodge, so she wasn't afraid and easily dodged it again.

Seeing this, the other women were eager to try.

  Their speed wasn't bad either.

They wanted to try dodging the boar.

Ellie reacted first, raising her crossbow and aiming at the boar. As the boar turned to charge at Chloe, she pulled the trigger.

The crossbow bolt once again turned into a black shadow, thwack, hitting the boar.

"Yes!" Ellie jumped up and down with joy. She had hit the boar twice now.

Seeing the women had the courage to face the boar, Jason stood aside, watching them tease the animal.

The boar charged several times, but Chloe easily dodged each time.

This wasn't because the boar was slow, but because Chloe's Speed was clearly higher than the boar's.

The boar's speed was probably around E+ Rank, so it was no match for Chloe's D- Rank Speed.

The boar seemed to know it couldn't catch Chloe, so it turned to charge at the other women.

The women all tried to dodge the boar.

  Ten minutes later.

The boar stood there, glaring at Chloe and the women.

It had charged at all of them, but they had all easily dodged it.

And now, it was covered in eight or nine crossbow bolts, looking like a porcupine, a pitiful sight.

The boar knew it was time to run.

It didn't want to die at the hands of humans and become food.

So, the boar turned and ran into the depths of the Wasteland.

But a figure had been waiting for it in the back, the figure of Jason, who had been watching all along.

The boar didn't pay attention to Jason and charged straight at him, increasing its speed.

It was confident that no human could withstand its charge.

As long as Jason dodged, it could escape.

Jason held the Wooden Spear, waiting for the right moment... when the boar was only six or seven feet away, he threw the Wooden Spear.

  Thwack!

The Wooden Spear, thrown with D Rank Strength, was terrifying, piercing straight through the boar.

"Oink!" The boar squealed in despair, feeling its life quickly draining away.

Jason stood there, not even looking at the boar.

The boar ran about fifteen or twenty feet past Jason before slowly collapsing on the ground.

It had been killed by Jason's thrown Wooden Spear.

"Wow!" Chloe and the other women exclaimed. Jason's move was so cool.

  Jason struck a few poses.

Chloe, Ellie, and Jenna enthusiastically applauded and cheered.

  Kira rolled her eyes.

How old was he? He was still acting like a kid.

And the sisters were really spoiling Jason...

Ellie hopped over to Jason, her eyes shining as she praised him, "Jason, the way you threw that Wooden Spear was so cool..."

Jason laughed, feeling a little embarrassed by the praise.

Seeing Jason was in a good mood, Ellie smiled and said, "Jason, I hit the boar the most times..."

Jason had promised that whoever hit the boar the most times would get an Attribute Orb as a reward.

Ellie seemed to have a talent for shooting. Half the bolts in the boar's body were hers.

  Jason realized, flicking Ellie's forehead.

He should have known. How could Ellie, that prideful girl, praise someone for no reason? She wanted an Attribute Orb.

So, Jason took out an E-Rank Attribute Orb and gave it to Ellie.

Ellie happily took it, kissed Jason on the cheek, and turned to join her sisters in collecting the crossbow bolts.
