CHP 154: VETERAN OF TROUBLE

  City of Vled.

  Pheew! pheew! Pheew!

  "Get him!"

Ten purple robed men dashed across the city's square, chasing after a man dressed in white.

  Crash!

The white robed man crashed into a stall, bursting out from the other side but ten more purple robed men were already waiting to corner him there.

"Arrrrggh! My goods!" The owner of the stall screamed in shock.

The white man made to run back, but the ten men from earlier had already closed in. They formed a tight formation he couldn't break through.

He took a sharp turn to his left but a kick sent him crashing, to the ground.

"Ugggh" he clutched his chest and groaned, wiping the blood that trailed down his lips.

He breath heavily in pain as he pushed himself to his knees. Hidden under his bangs were his sneaky eyes that darted around, searching for escape route, but his heart sank when he saw that he was absolutely cornered, there was no chance of escaping.

Mischief flashed across his eyes for a moment behind he quickly masked it.

With the calmness of a veteran of trouble, he stood up and looked at the man that had kicked him earlier.

The man was dressed in the same purple as the rest, but three blue vertical stripes were etched on his cloth, symboling his higher rank .

The man met the white robed man's gaze with a casual indifference, as though waiting for him to spout whether he has to say.

The white robed man pointed at him, his tone condemning. "Wu Han, how dare you attack the servant of Young Master Jin?!, are you seeking death?!" He berated angrily, his eyes so cold it's chilling.

Wu Han continued staring at him, as if his anger didn't matter at all.

The white robed man, Jun Qian, took a deep breath and crossed his hands behind his back, his chin tilted upward and with expression that of a king willing to grant amnesty, he commanded.

"Kneel and beg for mercy or expect the Overlord's wrath on you and your bloodline."

"Pfft!" Laughter almost escaped Wu Han mouth.

He raised an eyebrow that seemed to ask 'really?'

Seeing the mocking smile on Wu Han's face, Jun Qian heart sank further, a faint unease brewed in his heart.

But he didn't dare show it.

His eyes flared with fire as he pointed at Wu Han, his fingers trembling in anger. "How Dare You Lowly Mortal Mock The Majesty Of The Overlord?!, No being, I repeat, No Being in this whole Solenthia will save you all from your doom!" He shouted so loudly that crowd gathered in mere seconds.

Wu han mock winced from the loud voice.

???: what did he just say?!

  ???: OVERLORD?!

  ???Who is he?

Jun Qian faced the Crowd and looked at them Coldly. "You heard me clearly, The O.Ver.lord"

  Gasps echoed throughout the area.

Both mortals and cultivators, dread filling their heart.

Some hid their faces, others scrambled back, all afraid of being recognized.

Jùn Qian wasn't done, he pointed at Wu han and said loudly. "This insolent bastard not only attacked the servant of the Jin Family, but also insulted my Old Master, the greatest Overlord himself. Not even the heavens can save this City from Eradication!, everyone will Suffer for his Sin!"

The crowd's eyes widened in shock, panic spread through the air like plague, until one man stepped forward. He looked disheveled.

He pointed an accusing finger at Jun Qian and shouted angrily.

"You expect us to believe that bollocks just because you say so?, How do we know you really are backed by an Overlord?, Huh, how?"

Silence filled the surrounding in an instant, the crowd's condemning eyes shifted from Wu han to Jun Qian, awaiting his explanation.

A smile tugged at Jun Qian's lips, as if he had been expecting the question.

With a scoff, he raised his hand high and a black token appeared in it, instantly, a dreadful, ancient aura swept through the air like a tide.

It was cold. Noble and Divine.

A small etching of a dragon and sunburst glinted on the token.

  The Jin Family token.

Silence crashed down like a hammer.

The crowd watched in dreadful silence, looking around for confirmation.

But then a few people that recognized the symbol dropped to their knees, with hearts beating in trepidation. "It's over, it's over!" One old man muttered almost crazily.

The man that questioned Jun Qian furrowed his brow as he stared at the token. "It does seem noble, but who can tell...." He muttered under his breath.

Wu Han expression changed slightly as he also stared at the token, before shifting his gaze to Jun Qian's smug face.

"You are coming with me, Now."

He walked towards Jun Qian with a strong gait, not wavering abit in front of

the divine presence emanating from the token.

Jun Qian lips curled into a mocking smile. "You are finished." His words dropped like a curse.

Wu Han didn't reply, he grabbed Jun Qian by the arm and dragged him along.

But he stopped mid-step when someone blocked his way. The man that questioned Jun Qian earlier.

Wu Han glared at the man and grumped out a word. "Yes?"

The man crossed his arms and also glared at Wu Han. "Shouldn't you give us an explanation for all these..." He pointed at Jun Qian and the token still clutched in his hand.

A lady chimed in. "Yes, how can you leave without explaining anything, shouldn't you at least tell us if it's true or not?"

The crowd nodded in agreement. Even those who had fallen to their knees looked up at Wu Han, their eyes filled with hope.

Wu Han swept his eyes over the people, taking in each and every one of their expressions.

The silence hung like a blade over everyone's neck.

Finally, he spoke curtly. "You all will receive an announcement later." Without another word, he pushed the disheveled man aside and walked away. The remaining wardens followed closely behind.

Murmurs of dissatisfaction filled the air behind them but they care less.

Just then, the old Man that had been muttering crazily stood up and sprinted towards Wu Han, his eyes filled with madness.

Without hesitation, a short silver spear the length of an adult arm, appeared in Wu Han's hand and he aimed at the old man with deadly precision.

Gasps echoed throughout the air as people stepped back in caution.

Despite seeming crazy, the old man was able to avoid the attack. He sidestepped and easily avoided the spear before running towards him again.

Wu Han got irritated and brought out another spear, it was shorter than the first but thicker.

From the tip to the bottom, black rings were embedded tightly into the spear. They looked dull and more like decorations, but the moment the Qi of Wu Han s Nascent Soul cultivation streamed into it, the black ring at the spear tip came to life and trembled violently.

Wu Han didn't throw it this time, instead, he lightly brushed his second hand on the spear.

  Shrinnnnng!

A phantom of the first ring instantly flew out.

It expanded mid-air and crashed into the old man, binding him tightly.

Though the ring was merely a phantom, it was so heavy that the old man was sent tumbling down by it, he could not even utter a word, talk more of moving an inch.

Worse, a devouring force was sucking his Qi essence out of him without mercy, leaving him weak and helpless.

The old man tried to struggle and resist the devouring force but that was a costly mistake as the ring binded him tighter that his bones almost cracked and the suction force got stronger.

The crowd watched in fearful silence and didn't dare utter a word.

A Nascent Soul Realm cultivator was leagues above their realm, who dares disobey him? Unless the person was seeking death.

Jun Qian's smug expression disappeared, replaced by an obedient one.

He was merely a Mortal realm cultivator, he didn't want his meagre strength sucked out of him, that could cripple his cultivation.

Just when life was almost sucked out of the man, Wu Han recalled back the phantom ring and kept his spear, without so much as a glance, he grabbed Jun Qian by the arm and dragged him along.

The wardens behind him remained as quiet as ever and silently followed.

Several miles away, two men, contrasting of each other, watched the exchange with different expression.

One watched with bored expression while twirling a lock of his pale hair while the other's deep black eyes watched with an amused expression.

  "Interesting." Jin Yu muttered.

  "Boring" Seer rolled his eyes.

"Whatever, let's follow them, they might be going to the City Lord's house."

"Hmm" Seer hummed in agreement but then added. "It seems you forgot the bounty on you."

Jin Yu steps faltered, then he stopped and faced Seer.

Seer gave him a cheeky smile. "Don't worry, you have me." he patted his own chest in a reassuring manner.

Jin Yu glared at Seer as if trying to skin him alive. "Where did you hide them?" He asked coldly, the image of the lifeless City flashing across his eyes.

Seer crossed his arms behind his back and avoided Jin Yu's gaze. He looked up intently at the sky as though something interesting was there.

"Are you deaf?" Jin Yu questioned, now getting angry.

He refused to think that Seer had kill thousands of beings in a few minutes, he was holding on to the hope that he only hid them.

Seer suddenly looked at him and smiled, he sling an arm across Jin Yu’s shoulders and brought his own face closer to Jin Yu's.

Jin Yu moved his head back in dissatisfaction. His brow furrowing as he asked. "Are you okay?"

Seer only smiled under the mask and answered. "I see something interesting, want to know?"

Jin Yu brow furrowed even further. "Are you changing the topic?"

"No no no" Seer waved his hand and inched closer to Jin Yu.

Jin Yu was starting to doubt Seer's mental health at this point.

Why is he always clinging to me?

"Get the fuck-" just before he could tell him off, Seer cut in.

His pale index finger pointed at the sky and whispered.

"Three stars" a smile tugged at his lips as his eyes turned milky white.

"I see them" his voice lowered further. "almost here." He added.

When Seer looked back at Jin Yu, his eyes were their normal brown. "It's been a while." he said in satisfaction.

Jin Yu stared into his eyeballs, finding it interesting how an eyes can switch colours so casually.

"Too bad I can't see yours" Seer muttered, also staring into Jin Yu's eyes.

Jin Yu snapped out of his thoughts and pushed him away.

"You will go blind." He said curtly and walked off, trailing behind the wardens.

"I bet it will be worth it." Seer said with a smile and followed Jin Yu.
