29. Why Is It So Hard To Lie.

I really did not want them to pity me. It would only lead to bad things and feelings.

Everybody around me was looking at me with pity. Except for Kaede, who I thought would pity me the most, she looked at me with soft and comforting eyes.

“Don’t worry I won’t pity you, you have been through a lot for me.” Haven said with a slight blush. This made some of the others curious.

“What are you talking about?” Nearly everyone asked. Looking from Haven to myself and back to Haven again.

“Um…” She hesitated. But then Mr. And Mrs. Jolly looked away in embarrassment.

  “What happened?” Katy asked meanly.

“Don’t mind it, besides the third reason we have for meeting.” I tried to pull the attention away, but by now everyone could read me easily.

“Don’t think that after all that happened that you would be able to hide something. It has been the same scenario like three times.” Jane said. Everyone else quickly agreed with her. I would have to reveal a little truth. I looked over at Abby to explain, and she somehow understood.

“We met with Haven to try and convince her to testify, she was the first. Azure somehow convinced her and she started crying and then passed out. I… I had something really important to do... Yes, so I had to leave first. Azure had to carry Haven to the street so he could take her home.” Abby said feeling guilty, I would let go of her slight lie due to the situation.

“Is that all?” Jane said, suspicious.

“This was when his arm was broken, and he got sick because of it.” Abby revealed. This caused a slight tension throughout everyone. But did that mean they all cared about me.

“Why did you just leave him there?” Rachael asked.

“Like I said I had something important.” Abby said.

“So you just abandoned him?” Rachael said angrily.

Tensions were rising so I interrupted. “It's all in the past. Let's move on to the third point.”

“Wait, you only explained up to bringing her home, what happened after that?” Kaede added in. The suspicious eyes were upon me again. Finally Haven’s parents explained what happened.

“When they arrived, we quickly took care of Haven and we ignored Azure. After we settled our Daughter we talked with Azure, but it didn’t turn out well. He passed out sick, and when he woke up we talked again with Haven. But overall we didn’t treat him well.” Mrs. Jolly said.

“Stop being so vague, what really happened.” Katy asked. Pressure was building and the girls were looking at the Jolly’s with more anger.

“They really only ignored me, they weren’t really polite at the time. But they were focused on Haven.” I explained. The Jolly’s looked at me in relief.

“You are also understating it.” Jane said. It was getting slightly annoying, being unable to hide anything.

“So what if I did, that is between me and the Jolly’s. I have already completely forgiven them for what happened.” I said slightly pissed. Everybody caught on to this and backed off.

“So what is the third reason for meeting?” Jane said in embarrassment.

“The third reason for this meeting is,” To recover from your trauma, “To make a plan.” I hid from everybody there.

“What kind of plan?” Rachael asked.

“Let's go to an amusement park.” I said. My words confused even Haven’s parents.

“May I ask why?” Jane spoke hesitantly.

“To have fun and make bonds with each other. You will eventually need to testify together and we wouldn’t want to be torn apart because we weren’t close enough.” I explained. In truth I wanted them to feel more comfortable in public and around people, as well as bonding with each other.

“A-” Jane started but I shot a glare at her. She had ruined too many lies today alone.

“When should we go?” Abby said in excitement. Her thick face surprised even me. While everybody else was contemplating going out in public she immediately spoke out like she was completely fine.

We eventually set up a date a few weeks ahead. I could tell that some of the girls were forcing themselves. They didn’t really want to go out to such a crowded place, but they didn’t want to be left behind either.

“Lastly, do any of you recognize these names?” I held up a piece of paper with the names, Tracy Jackson, and Holly Gosdan.

  Everybody shook their heads.

“Are these two possibly…” Rachael spoke hesitantly.

I nodded, “Yes these are the other two victims.” Once I said this everybody looked at the paper more attentively.

We ended our meeting soon after. With the rest of the weekend ahead of me, I began to scheme.

I returned to school the next Monday. All eyes on me again, but there wasn’t much I could do to prevent the bullying.

Dirt and Mud were shoved in my desk, this time with a variety of bugs. My backpack was stolen, along with my shoes. My gym clothes were found in the toilet. Sprayed with hoses, objects thrown. All what I was used too from the prior week.

However they came up with new methods as well. My chair and top of the desk were covered in oil. People threw sand at me when I couldn’t see them. Someone even was able to spray paint my jacket without me catching them.

At least they seemed too scared to put tacks on my chair like last time.

At lunch Kaede and Abby tried to tell the teachers about the bullying. However they were asked for evidence. They were soon ignored and left helpless.

I just stayed emotionless, my body and emotions a mere tool to be used.

The next day the same happened. Kaede and Abby went to the teachers again. When asked for evidence they showed pictures from their phones. The teacher snatched their phones and deleted the photos saying they shouldn’t be using their phones during school time.

The bullying went through stages: The old methods would get boring, they would add on a new method, they had a little excitement, and then it would get old again. It was quite boring on my side.

Until, Johnny came to my class again.
