36. No Longer Abandoned Always Alone.

It was Thursday, one day before my trial, and the weather was probably bad. But I wouldn’t know, I was locked up in my cell with no window. The past three days had indeed taken too much away from me.

  What did I really have?

The question was bothering me. Throughout most of my life I had barely anything, and now it was the same. I had once again been abandoned, and am once again alone.

It had already happened countless times, it ruled my being. Or more precisely it had once ruled my being.

The reason I was abandoned was because I gave people the option. I had given those people my heart and my trust on a silver platter.

To not be put in such a situation anymore all I had to do was rule my own being.

I don’t need the opinion or even the feelings of others, I alone am enough to stand tall in this world. No more relying on others, or bothered by their emotions. I fight for myself by myself.

If you stand in my way, there would be not even a shred of mercy.

I was fed by the tall officer, and he once again informed me that he couldn’t do anything. I ignored him and continued resting in ease. However he didn’t leave right after like he usually did.

“I have something to tell you.” The tall officer said nervously. I nodded without emotion.

“Your friends are protesting outside, they are yelling that you are innocent.” He said in a small voice.

“Friends?” I spoke the singular word.

“You don’t know them? They are shouting your name right now, it is going to cause some problems.” He said surprised.

“Tell them that I am fine and to go home.” I spoke very precisely, not saying a word I didn’t have to.

“Okay, and to remind you, you go to court tomorrow. They are likely going to use every dirty trick in the book.” He said before quickly leaving.

I already knew that they would attempt to screw me over tomorrow, but it wasn’t like I was going to make it easy for them.

The next day, I was taken from my cell and rushed to an appointment with my public attorney. It would be right before our time in court. Have they done this for appearances sake?

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“Hello, my name is Gregory Ashelm. Is there anything you would like to say to me?” He introduced himself.

“Judging by your demeanor you are dirty, right?” I said. What kind of attorney is this calm in this situation?

“What could you possibly be talking about?” Gregory said with a smile.

  Yep, definitely dirty.

But just to be sure I checked with my power. Surprisingly it did not show many sins. However there were a few, and those few told me everything I needed to know.

At least several times before he had poorly represented his client in court. This was caused by his connection to the police. That made it easily noticeable what relation they had, and the implications it meant for the police.

I had no more words for this man. He would only be an obstacle in my path to save myself.

We sat in silence for 15 minutes, we would then be called into court.

We arrived at the court, but it was mostly empty. There were no people in the wooden benches behind us. There was a bald man in black robes, the judge, standing above everybody else. He had an aura of control, but it felt at ease. I thought that he would not be able to control me either.

There was a small group of people sitting to our right, they were likely to be the jury.

Finally sitting on a bench to our right was the girl and her lawyer. Nearly everybody was wearing nice clothes, and the nearly part was because of me. I was wearing my school uniform with nothing else. I had nothing else.

My school uniform was dirty from the almost two weeks of sweat and grime from the cell. I was even giving off a pungent smell that was annoying a couple people.

After some introduction procedures we officially began my trial. The weird girl, whose name turned out to be Greta Dardy, was the first on stand. The opposing lawyer asked her very simple questions, about when and where she was was raped. When it came to who she said my name and pointed to me.

During all of this I stayed silent, no amount of mental warfare could affect me.

Next on the stand were the two police officers who arrested me. They spun the story about the snake into me attacking them with a snake. They also reported that since my arrest my behavior had been very poor. My attorney asked one or two nonsense questions before giving up.

By now the entire jury was looking at me with evil and unforgiving eyes. The only one who remained neutral besides myself was the judge.

Eventually I was called to stand. Both lawyers asked me dirty questions that were predicated on the fact that I had done the crime. I refused to give them the answers they wanted.

When both of them were done and were recalled something happened that I didn’t expect.

The loud sound the judges gavel brought everyone's attention to the judge. He sat strongly with a determination that controlled the atmosphere.

“You have greatly disappointed me. You have disrespected my court and our country. Never have I ever seen such a horrible preceding.” He did not yell but his voice was loud.

Everybody was shocked, especially my enemies, they had thought that this case was done. However they didn’t expect the judge to speak up.

“Azure, I will allow you to speak freely to defend yourself. Nobody here has given you even a pittance of a chance at innocence.” The judge looked over and said to me.

“But the rules.” Both of the lawyers said in unison.

“Rules, you think you can pull that shit in front of me and complain about the rules. Sit down and shut up if you know what is good for you.” The judge said extremely calmly.

I felt a small hope in my heart.

“Where should I start?” I asked the judge.
