Chapter 2: Meeting an Old Acquaintance

Chapter 2: Meeting an 'Old' Acquaintance

"Hurry up and get out of bed, today is the first day of your junior high school, don't be late on the first day!" Along with her mother's familiar voice, Ji Xin'an's quilt was lifted off, a wave of cool air rushed in, making Ji Xin'an feel much more alert.

Ji Xin'an, who had just woken up, stared blankly at her mother, who looked much younger. Ji Xin'an was stunned on the spot.

"Wasn't I hit by a car? How come I don't feel any pain at all, shouldn't I be in the hospital even if it doesn't hurt?! Where is this place?" He reached out to touch his arm and body, and found that although he was thinner, everything was intact. "Such a serious car accident and nothing happened, it's really a miracle. But how come I've lost weight? Did I lie in bed for a long time?"

She looked around carefully and found that it wasn't a hospital, but her home from many years ago. "Isn't this the house I lived in when I was in junior high school? It's been sold for many years!" The more she looked, the stranger and more eerie it felt.

She hasn't figured it out yet, and her mother is urging her again. "What are you still dazing about? Hurry up and wash up. After dinner, go with your father to school for registration."

"What's the report? What path is being reported?" "Did I get a job change? Didn't hear about it" Ji Xin'an asked while getting out of bed, and as soon as he got out of bed, he found that he seemed to have shrunk a lot, because his line of sight had lowered, making it easy to discover that he was shorter. Now he felt like he was only over 1.5 meters tall.

"Today is September 1st, isn't it the first day of junior high school? How could you sleep for a while and get confused, forgetting about the start of school?" Mom walked back to the kitchen to continue making breakfast.

Ji Xinan was stunned again after listening to her mother's words, and as she walked forward, she bumped into the door frame. Ji Xinan, who felt pain, covered her head with one hand and thought, "It hurts so much, it's not a dream, it should be real, but junior high school is starting? It's too unbelievable, did I really reincarnate? Is this some kind of reward for being heroic? Because she usually reads such scenes when she has nothing to do, but when they actually happen to herself, she can't accept them suddenly.

Dazed, she walked into the bathroom, and Ji Xin'an brushed her teeth while looking at herself in the mirror. This time, she was really sure that she had been reborn, because the face in the mirror was a 29-year-old leftover woman who couldn't possibly have such a tender face, exuding a youthful aura.

Ji Xin'an used to be pale and looked sub-healthy from sitting in front of the computer for years, but now she has a rosy and lovely face that looks like a healthy baby.

Looking at the familiar yet strange face in front of her, Chi Hsin-an suddenly thought of an advertisement slogan "No crow's feet around the eyes." She was amused by herself all of a sudden.

Never thought that everyone's casual rebirth on the internet would really happen to myself, turning me from a nearly thirty-year-old leftover woman into a thirteen-year-old girl, and suddenly going back from 2011 to 1994.

Although she was slow in doing things when she was in junior high school, in order not to let her mother urge again, she still sped up her washing and dressing actions.

What makes Ji Xin'an feel tragic is her own clothes. She returned to the room, opened the closet, and found that there were only a few wearable clothes, and for her, they were all "out of date" for over a decade. Only then did she realize that she was not like the girls born after 1990, who had piles of clothes. Her clothes were limited to just a few pieces because her family's economic situation was average, and she grew up quickly, only buying new ones when these few small pieces no longer fit.

Ji Xin'an reluctantly found a pair of jeans and a T-shirt that looked decent. "Well, it's not like I have a choice, after all, it takes decades for aesthetic tastes to form in the future, and it's a bit difficult to complete such a transformation in just one day. Maybe I'll get used to wearing this after a while, otherwise, I can always pick my own clothes next time." Ji Xin'an remembered that at this point, her clothes were all still chosen by her mother.

Although I sped up while washing, I was entangled in clothes for half a day and annoyed my mother.

When Ji Xin'an sat down at the dinner table, his parents had already started eating. After thinking for a moment, he spoke up and said: "Dad, I'll go to school by myself today! Now that I'm in junior high, you don't need to accompany me anymore."

I remember the first time I went to junior high school, my dad accompanied me. Actually, there weren't many things to do on the first day of school, just going to see the results of the entrance exam and being assigned to a class, then going to the classroom to listen to the teacher say a few words. Now thinking about it as an adult, these things didn't need anyone to accompany me at all.

"Can you go by yourself? I didn't say I'd accompany you, after all it's the first day of school, let's go together!" Dad was a bit surprised when he heard Ji Xin'an, but still wasn't at ease.

"It's okay, Dad. Didn't I already take the entrance exam last time? Besides, I'm a junior high school student now, and I can handle such simple things myself. Right, Mom?" Ji Xin'an saw that her father didn't agree, so she turned to her mother and started acting cute.

"Let her go by herself then! She's been to school before, she knows the way. From now on, she'll have to go every day anyway, it doesn't matter if she misses one day." Mom smiled, feeling that her daughter had suddenly grown up.

Because Ji Xin'an's family moved here after Ji Xin'an graduated from elementary school, although her parents' work was transferred here last year, but because Ji Xin'an was about to graduate from elementary school, they insisted on moving here until after Ji Xin'an's graduation exam. So Ji Xin'an is not very familiar with this place, and her parents are also worried that she will get lost.

Ji Xin'an finally achieved her goal and lowered her head to start her first breakfast since she was thirteen years old.

After having breakfast and getting her mother's permission, Ji Xin'an picked up the empty school bag, found a pair of canvas shoes that matched her jeans, put them on and went out.

Although only first-year students started school today, there were many people on the playground because most of them were accompanied by parents, and some even had two adults with them. Ji Xin'an thought it was good that she had experience and didn't let her dad come together, otherwise, waiting here would be too torturous!

Like in her previous life, the class list was posted on the bulletin board in front of the teaching building. Ji Xin'an didn't start from Class 1 and look through each one like others did, but instead went straight to the list for Class 8, took a casual glance, and found her own name. Originally, she didn't need to come see it, going directly to the classroom would have been fine, but fearing there might be some changes after rebirth, she came to take a look anyway.

Ji Xin'an had read it and was going to go to the classroom to wait, turned around to leave, didn't expect someone behind her, suddenly bumped into him, her head happened to hit his chin.

"Sorry! I didn't notice there was someone behind me." The other person clutched their chin, gasping for air. Looks like it's quite serious.

"No big deal, why are you leaving as soon as you stand up? I thought you were going to squeeze in and was just about to ask for your help from behind!" The other person looked up at her, surprisingly it was Zou Ze, what a coincidence, the last person Ji Xin'an spoke to in her past life was indeed him.

"I've finished! Just in Class 8, I was about to go to the classroom!" When she saw a 'familiar' person, her future deskmate for the next three years, Ji Xin'an, she inexplicably became excited.

"You can see that far? Awesome, let me take a look." Zou Ze saw that he didn't have to squeeze in and out like the previous seven times, and his mouth opened wide.

It wasn't until Zou Ze reminded me that I realized there were still four or five rows of people between me and the list, although I could see the list, but the words on it were basically invisible from so far away. I remember when I was 29 years old, due to long-term computer use, I had some mild myopia, not severe but noticeable. I didn't expect that after coming back, my eyes would become so good, this is another big surprise of rebirth!
