Chapter 70: Drunken Intentions

  Chapter Seventy Drunken Intentions

Ji Xinan slowly stopped crying, Zou Ze sent Ji Xinan back home. Because he was worried about Ji Xinan's current state, he didn't leave immediately. He poured water for her and prepared food, making small talk to try to improve her mood.

Watching Zou Ze busy himself for her, Ji Xin'an felt a pang of guilt in her heart. "Zou Ze, you don't have to do this, I'm fine now."

"It's fine, don't worry about it. Actually, life is still very interesting and not just about emotions." Zou Ze saw that she said it was fine, but her expression wasn't quite right, and he was still worried in his heart.

"I know, even if I don't have feelings anymore, I still have all of you friends and my dreams. Don't worry, I won't think about it." Ji Xin'an was still sad, but much better than when she had just learned the truth.

Zou Ze didn't know what else to say, just as the doorbell rang at this moment, Ji Xin'an got up to open the door.

"Zhaodi, come in quickly." It was Chen Zhaodi knocking at the door outside, still holding various new purchases of vegetables.

"I see you all haven't eaten yet, so I bought some dishes and let's eat together." Chen Zhaodi was also going to go see Ji Xin'an just now, but seeing Zou Ze chasing after him, she didn't get involved again. Seeing that it was already this time and everyone hadn't eaten yet, Zou Ze and Ji Xin'an should have forgotten, so she went to buy some dishes and came over.

"Yeah, it's already this late, I wouldn't have mentioned it if you hadn't reminded me." Ji Xin'an glanced at the time and saw that it was already past two o'clock, yet she didn't feel hungry at all.

"Today I'll cook, you guys try my cooking skills." Chen Zhaodi wisely didn't mention that matter and changed her shoes to directly enter the kitchen to start cooking.

Ji Xin'an didn't really have the mood to cook either, so he just let her be.

The three of them ate and chatted as usual, only no one mentioned what had happened today, instead talking about some interesting things.

After finishing dinner, the two of them wanted to stay and accompany Ji Xin'an, but seeing that her mood had improved a bit, they knew that what she needed most now was some alone time, so they quietly left.

Watching them leave, Ji Xin'an finally relaxed. If the two were here, she would still have to force herself to pretend that nothing was wrong, but when they left, she could finally let herself be heartbroken and in pain without any worries.

But when I reached out to wipe away the tears, there were none. My heart was aching with pain, but I had no way to vent my emotions.

Back in her own room, everywhere she looked was filled with memories of Yao Wenhuo. The first gift Yao Wenhuo gave her, the souvenir from that shooting range, although she didn't put it in a glass display case like she joked about, but she did put it in a beautiful glass cover and placed it on the most prominent spot on her desk. There were also the flowers Yao Wenhuo gave her, those roses that could only bloom for a few days, their petals carefully made into dried flowers and collected in a box, which was now full. And there were those gifts he gave her that looked worthless but were specially handmade by him, each one reminding her of the sweetness they once shared, yet also making her even more heartbroken.

Unable to bear it any longer, he got up and left. When he walked downstairs, he found that Zou Ze was sitting at the gate of their house.

"Zou Ze, why didn't you leave?" Ji Xin'an pushed Zou Ze, who was almost asleep.

"Oh, An An, I..." Zou Ze saw that Ji Xinan had discovered him and stuttered, unable to speak clearly.

Ji Xin'an understood that he must be afraid of something happening to her, so he was guarding here. "Zou Ze, thank you, but I'm really fine now."

"An An, although I like you very much, I'm not trying to take advantage of the situation. I just want to help you out, that's all." Zou Ze felt a bit embarrassed at being caught, but looking into Ji Xin An's eyes, he saw sincerity.

Ji Xin'an was taken aback for a moment, not expecting him to say it so directly, but then smiled, "If you want to help me, let's have a few drinks together, I want to get drunk."

"Okay." Zou Ze agreed immediately, but also felt a bit embarrassed. He thought of his own experience with drinking and said, "Where shall we go to drink? Let's not go to those bars or anything like that."

"Don't worry, I'll find a place. Let's go buy some food first." Ji Xin'an pulled him up and the two of them walked out together.

Ji Xin'an chose the highest hotel in the city and booked a room on the top floor. Looking out of the window, he could see the entire view of the city.

"How about it? The place I chose isn't bad, is it?" Ji Xin'an said, taking a sip of the beer in his hand while admiring the view outside.

"It's really not bad, I didn't think that the place where I've lived for so many years would be so beautiful." Zou Ze also said with emotion, the sunset shone on both of their faces, not as dazzling as at noon, but equally warm.

"I've always liked high places, where you can see further. I even thought about sitting in the highest place in this city and looking down one day, but I never had the chance or time. Who would have thought that when I finally sat here, it would be with such a mindset." Ji Xin'an smiled self-mockingly.

"You should actually thank yourself for having money, otherwise you wouldn't be able to get in even if you wanted to." Zou Ze said jokingly.

"Yes, money is indeed a good thing. Let's have a drink to celebrate that we've become one of the first batch of people who got rich. At least we don't have to bow down for just five pecks of rice." Ji Xin'an also burst out laughing, feeling that she was indeed uncontented. She was now at least much happier than those who struggled to find a job and ran around every month for just a few hundred yuan.

"We are indeed very happy, we have an economic foundation in material terms and a spiritual ideal to strive for. Although there may be some setbacks and small difficulties, they will all pass, and perhaps no one is happier than us." Zou Ze thought these words were like a dream, he was only in his teens but already had wealth that others envied, now he himself didn't dare to think about it.

"Yes, spiritually and materially I am not lacking, what else can I be worried about." In my heart, I also thought that a small lost love is nothing.

Ji Xin'an ultimately failed to fulfill her wish of getting drunk, not because she couldn't get drunk, but because when she had almost reached that point, she suddenly felt a bit childish. Wasn't it just a breakup? Did she have to follow the script and get dead drunk just because she was heartbroken?

Although she wasn't drunk, Ji Xin'an, who had been tired all day, now felt a bit more relaxed and her heart didn't feel as heavy, so she directly leaned on Zou Ze's shoulder and fell asleep.

Zou Ze was so close to Ji Xin'an for the first time, staring at her without any restraint, looking at this beautiful face, Zou Ze had a strong urge to kiss her, but in the end, he didn't have the courage to do it, so they spent the night quietly like this...
