Chapter 107: The First Floor of the Trial Labyrinth 2

"Since there's no scouting class member in our team, what effective scouting methods do you have?" Kenley inquired.

The labyrinth was teeming with numerous monsters, and having a scouting class would undoubtedly make the battle much more manageable. Although he possessed the Ring of Life as a scouting tool, its range was, after all, limited. It would be significantly better if they had abilities like the Beast Sensing of a Beast Tamer, the Wild Perception of a Ranger, or the Stealth Reconnaissance of a Thief.

This time, the one who responded was the Cleric named Tek."I have a fairy who can scout the path for us."

"A fairy?" The corner of Kenley's mouth twitched. This lineup was truly luxurious.

Upon hearing Kenley's astonished tone, Anya, who was walking ahead, suddenly turned around and smiled."Tek is the most gifted Cleric in Marlen Imperial City and is also Bishop Michael's most prized student. Don't underestimate his capabilities and background."

No sooner had Anya finished speaking than Tek reached out into the void, and a golden glazed lantern materialized in his hand.

"Go ahead, Banny." He opened the door of the lantern, and the dazzlingly golden, beautiful fairy with a pair of dragonfly wings let out a giggle and flew forward.

Kenley himself had once raised a fairy, so he was intimately familiar with fairies and had even dedicated a considerable amount of time to studying the fairy system. Although in official formal competitions, it was not permitted to bring along subordinates such as fairies and servants, in informal, offline, and internal club competitions, fairies and servants were allowed. The purpose was to enhance the spectacle and intensify the excitement of the matches.

There had even been specialized"fairy dueling" competitions in the past, where one would pit their fairies and servants against others in individual battles. Fairies were not easy to capture, and they also boasted remarkable growth potential. Most crucially, fairies did not belong to the primate species. Unlike races such as humans, dwarves, elves, and orcs, they did not need to participate in the trial labyrinths.

Like monsters, they had the innate ability to grow and advance automatically, albeit requiring time for cultivation. Moreover, judging from the fairy that Tek had produced, it was likely a Light Fairy that primarily utilized the light element.

  Identify!

  [Light Fairy· Banny]

  [Level: 20]

  [Race: Fairy]

  [HP: 216/216]

  [MP: 350/350]

[Description: A luminous being dwelling on the Seven - Character Holy Tree. They share an extremely profound connection with the Church of Light. The first Pope once made a vow of unity with the ancestor of the Light Fairies.]

It seemed that this fellow named Tek was no ordinary individual. He had actually earned the recognition of a Light Fairy and was a talented young man.

Kenley cast another glance at the taciturn Priest. Needless to say, this guy surely had some hidden aces up his sleeve. It appeared that he had joined a team of powerful and wealthy individuals. What was this called? The union of the strong?

Banny immediately chanted a low incantation in the unintelligible fairy language. Moments later, a flash of light emanated from her body, and she vanished in an instant.

Presumably, it operated on the same principle as the Cloak of Light, utilizing the properties of the light element to enter an invisible state.

"Alright, now with Banny leading the way in front, we'll be immediately aware if any enemies appear," Anya, as always, was the most talkative.

  Guinevere nodded."Let's set off."

It seemed that Guinevere was indeed a woman of few words. However, there was a detail that she seemed to be subtly edging closer to Tia, as if she held a great deal of affection for her.

Kenley didn't expose this. Tia was also a mage, and standing beside Guinevere, they could provide mutual support.

Walking forward along the gate of the labyrinth, a three - way fork in the path immediately presented itself.

The tall white walls soared up to the very top, and a faint blue glow enveloped the entire labyrinth, imbuing it with a mysterious ambiance.

"Which way should we go?" Someone asked.

Guinevere took a look and said,"To the right."

The labyrinth had dead ends, and it was impossible to know in advance where the exit was located. Each floor of the labyrinth had a boss guarding it. One had to navigate through the labyrinth, find the correct gate, and only then could they clear that floor.

  Guinevere's choice was presumably random.

As a warrior, Kenley and Fess took up positions at the forefront. While they were tasked with safeguarding the safety of the rear row, they also needed to pin down the enemies as much as possible. The rear row was the responsibility of the Cleric and the Priest. Priests and Clerics also possessed close - combat capabilities and were not entirely pure rear - row classes.

They had only walked a dozen or so steps when Kenley immediately raised his right hand and made a gesture to halt."Hold on!"

Fess furrowed his brows slightly."What's the matter?" Kenley was merely a warrior. He was neither a Thief nor a Ranger. What could he mean by stopping them at this moment?

  "There's a trap."

  "A trap?"

Anya wore a look of disbelief."Come on, friend. You're just a warrior. How on earth could you know there's a trap here?"

"There are strange patterns on the wall." Kenley pointed to a barely perceptible small pattern on a certain section of the wall, which indeed looked different from the other walls.

"Just based on a pattern? If you were a Thief, I'd be more inclined to believe you," Anya said.

Kenley smiled faintly and made a gesture of invitation, as if saying, if you don't believe me, go ahead and give it a try.

"I don't believe it! You're just scaring yourself. You're such a coward." Anya rolled her eyes and was about to step forward.

"Stop!" Fess furrowed his brows and barked at Anya.

"Seriously, Fess? You're believing him too? The fairy already passed through!" To be honest, as a warrior, Kenley's words indeed carried little persuasive power.

After saying that, Anya walked forward, and to everyone's surprise, nothing happened to her!

"Hey! Coward! See? I knew there was no trap here at all! Scaring yourself for nothing. How dull!" After saying that, Anya pulled down her right eyelid and stuck out her tongue at Kenley.

Fess also let out a sigh of relief and then shot Kenley a disdainful look. Just as Anya had said, Kenley was making a fuss over nothing.

Guinevere also cast a fleeting, indifferent glance at Kenley and then led the group forward.

Only Kenley remained standing there in silence, unmoving, and Tia, noticing this, also stopped and stayed by her master's side.

"Master, you don't have to take it to heart. One or two mistakes are quite normal," Tia said considerately, naturally sensing the disdainful looks cast by the others at Kenley and worried that his mindset might be affected.

Kenley simply shook his head."Tia, have you ever seen me make a miscalculation?"

Tia's eyes widened in surprise. Her master was still persisting.

"But Master, all five of them have already passed..." Tia glanced at the five individuals.

Indeed, nothing had befallen them after they had passed through.

"Why aren't you coming yet?" Anya turned around and sneered once more.

  "It's coming," Kenley said softly.

  "What's coming?"

Just then, the ground suddenly trembled violently, and a huge stone ball covered in spikes hurtled towards them at a rapid pace!
