Chapter 112: The Second and Third Floors of the Trial Labyrinth 2

The second floor, much like the first, primarily entailed scouting for monsters, marking locations, and evading traps, with no substantial alterations.

Thanks to Kenley's covert guidance, it wasn't long before they successfully reached the room of the boss on the second floor.

"We're about to confront a new challenge. I wonder what the boss will be this time?" Anya remarked, her voice laced with a blend of nervousness and anticipation.

"I suspect it will be closely related to the monsters on this floor. This floor is predominantly populated by berserk wolves, which are wind-elemental creatures. Thus, it's highly probable that in the boss's chamber, we'll encounter the leader of the berserk wolves." Fess pondered aloud.

"Everyone, first check your own conditions. Is there anything else you need to prepare? We'll open the door shortly." Kenley turned around and addressed the group.

"I'm already fully prepared!" Anya was the first to raise her hand.

"Master, Tia is always at the ready."

"I have no issues. How about the rest of you?" Fess turned back.

  Guinevere merely nodded, remaining taciturn.

Observing that everyone was ready, Kenley furrowed his brows and suddenly stated, "Although I'm unaware of what the monster behind the door is, I need to make certain adjustments to our formation positions beforehand."

  "Adjustments?" Fess looked somewhat perplexed.

Kenley nodded. "Yes, Fess. For example, you must position yourself behind me rather than on the same line. Orphen , you need to stand beside Anya and keep a vigilant eye on her at all times. Tek, I require you to stand in the middle of the team. Guinevere and Tia, you two should stand at the rear. Do you comprehend?"

"Wait a moment, Mr. Kenley. I can understand the adjustments for Her Highness the Princess and Tek, but why do I have to stand behind you? Also, why does Orphen need to be with Anya?" Fess was the first to raise his hand.

After all, they weren't players... If this were in a game, Kenley would likely find it much easier to explain. However, here he couldn't provide an explanation, as it would inevitably expose his true intentions.

In the Divine Realm, Kenley was prohibited from directly sharing the strategy with everyone, as it would undoubtedly incur the wrath and punishment of the gods.

In this boss's room, instead of a single boss, there were twin wolves, Fenburr and Fennir, a pair of sibling wolves.

Fenburr mastered water-element magic, while Fennir was proficient in wind-element magic. Fenburr never engaged in close combat; instead, it would unleash various water-element spells from a distance, such as Ice Freeze, Ice Spikes, and the like. These spells not only slowed down the opponents but also inflicted substantial damage.

Fennir, on the other hand, would launch surprise attacks when the trial participants were frozen. It was a rather formidable combination. One could slow down the adversaries, and the other was extremely swift. All of Fennir's wind-element close combat attacks were executed with great speed. A single moment of carelessness could prove fatal.

Especially for a novice team like this, who hadn't even explored an ordinary labyrinth, Kenley couldn't solely rely on their teamwork. At such a juncture, firm leadership was of paramount importance. A lack of cohesion would lead to dire consequences.

This arrangement and positioning were also a strategic move Kenley had planned in advance, based on the combat patterns of the two wolves. The mages were positioned in the rear. Although they were right at the edge of the attack range (the maximum attack distance for a first-tier mage was 30 meters), they were ideally placed to deal with the wind wolf Fennir.

Kenley's objective was to leverage Guinevere's excellent firepower output to swiftly focus their attacks and eliminate Fennir before the opponent had a chance to react. Simultaneously, this would also circumvent Fenburr's ice-freezing ability, safeguarding the rear ranks from interference.

The Cleric was positioned in the middle because a level 30 Cleric possessed a special area-of-effect debuff removal skill, with a range of eight meters in radius. It was neither overly large nor too small. In case of an unexpected situation, whether the Cleric moved a few steps forward or backward, they would be able to promptly assist their teammates in removing the debuffs.

Kenley explained, "Firstly, Anya possesses remarkable combat prowess and is quite agile, which I greatly admire. However, she lacks sufficient on-the-spot reaction skills, and Mr. Orphen excels in this regard. I need someone to provide support to her."

Anya immediately raised her hand and said, "Yes! I'll follow your orders, Captain Kenley!"

Kenley then explained to Fess, "The reason I want you, Fess, to stay behind me is mainly that I'm adept at making aggressive charges and diverting the enemy's attention. However, the battlefield is constantly in flux. If I fail to successfully draw the enemy's attention, I'll need you, Fess, to step in promptly, divert the enemy's focus, and safeguard the safety of our team members in the rear. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

Fess supported his chin with one hand and contemplated for a moment. "Hmm... Although I don't fully grasp it, since we've unanimously elected you as our captain, I'll cooperate with you actively during the battle."

"Good." That was precisely what he wanted to hear. Then Kenley turned around and asked, "Are we all set? Then I'll open the door..."

  "Yes!" Everyone nodded in unison.

As the door was pushed open, a bone-chilling coldness assailed them instantaneously. Icy blue mist billowed out from the boss's room, causing Anya to involuntarily shiver.

"What kind of monster could it be? Why is the room so frigid?" Anya rubbed her arms.

"Don't stand there in a daze. Let's go in." Kenley drew his sword and stepped inside first.

  The others followed closely behind.

Another clear sound resonated. A massive glowing disc illuminated the ground, and two figures slowly emerged from it.

[Boss · Icebound Hunter · Fenburr] [Boss · Windstorm Hunter · Fennir]

  [Level: 30]

  [Race: Berserk Wolf]

[HP: 4517/4517] (Both wolves have the same amount of health)

  [MP: ???/???]

[Description: The leaders of the berserk wolf clan, they are astute leaders. They are not only ruthless but also cunning.]

With their silver-gray and brown-green fur, the two sibling wolves, as soon as they appeared, let out low growls of anger at the group. The silver one was the brother Fenburr, and the brown-green one was the sister Fennir.

"As expected, they're berserk wolves." The group wasn't overly surprised.

"Don't be complacent!" Kenley cautioned, and immediately took a position at the front with Fess, one in front and one behind.

"Your Highness the Princess, use the Ice Freeze spell!" Kenley commanded promptly.

Guinevere was slightly taken aback. She seemed somewhat surprised that Kenley had called her name first. What surprised her even more was how Kenley knew that she could wield water-element magic. She couldn't recall using any water-element magic within the labyrinth.

However, the doubt vanished in an instant. She nodded slightly and immediately raised her magic staff. An icy blue light began to gather steadily at the tip of the staff.
